Miracle of love

John 4:48-50
Jesus spoke, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe."

The royal official said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies."

Jesus said to him, "You may go; your son will live." The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.

The royal official really didn't care about proving Jesus right or proving Jesus wrong. He had no political agenda. He didn't care about theology. This father was just worried about his son.

As God Jesus knows this dad and his son personally, from the top of their heads to the soles of their feet. As man Jesus walks where the dad walks; he is within this frightened father's reach. And when this man asks Jesus for his help, Jesus gives it to him.

Such a straightforward transaction: Jesus gives the man what he needs just because He loves him. There are no politics in Jesus' mind, either. He doesn't care who sees, who knows, or who gets upset by what he does. He won't be using this healing to make a name for himself.

When I remember this sweet lack of calculation, I trust God quicker and more often. If anyone is calculating, it's me. Not my healing, loving, all-powerful God. He has nothing to gain or lose, and He always takes care of me.

My weeping may remain for a night, Lord, but joy comes in the morning. Over and over, Lord, you turn my mourning into dancing; you remove my sackcloth and clothe me instead with gladness. Let my heart sing to you and not be silent. O Lord, my God, I will give you thanks forever!
