Revelation 21:10-23
The angel took me in spirit to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. It gleamed with the splendor of God ... I saw no temple in the city for its temple is the Lord God almighty and the Lamb. The city had no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gave it light, and its lamp was the Lamb.

John 14:23-29
Jesus said to his disciples: "Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him ... the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid."

John's words reach out and warm my whole body, and I ache with joy and thankfulness and anticipation. My heart beats faster and all I care about in the world is Jesus.

Just let this last longer than a few seconds, Lord. What can I do to make myself more receptive to your touch? Home, this is, when you are here.

Easter's days are passing by. Soon you'll ascend into the sky. I lose sight and sound of you and even sometimes seek distraction, though I know you'll soon be moving on.

Come, Holy Spirit. Teach me and remind me and leave me with the peace of God. Show me my corner of this place where there is no need for sun or moon, no need for church or prayer. Where your glory is all there is.

It's raining outside. It's pouring, and Mary calls out to Peter and Paul: "Hey, I got an idea. we could all play hide and go seek inside! Now everybody hide and I'll be it!" And she shuts her eyes tight shut and sings and counts and sings, "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, wish I may, wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight." *

Children wish for ice cream and to sleep with their parents in storms, and they know how to relax in those warm beds. What am I wishing for? What will convince my body to rest and relax and stop holding itself so tight? I think that would be you, Jesus.

Let the rain come down. Wash my sins away. God's patched my roof and I won't drown. Living water everywhere, Jesus. You wash me, and I will be clean. You touch me, and I will be healed.

Let me sleep with you tonight, Jesus. And I will all be yours.

There's no sense waiting around, Lord. If you're calling me, I want to come. If you've opened the door then I want to walk through it. Sing to me, and smooth my hair. And I can rest in you.
